Facebook Promoting 101
By · CommentsI thought I’d post a training that I have been using within my team and has been producing some incredible results.
The bottom line is that you CANNOT spam people. You will be deleted by your friends and you can even be deleted from Facebook entirely.
The first step is creating your own profile. This is very simple since it is a personal profile. DO NOT include the link to your company website on your profile. This will take the control out of your hands and put it in the prospect’s hands. You need to create curiosity so that THEY ask YOU for the information.
Tips to get attention on Facebook
- Comment/Like other people’s content
- post useful links and interesting stories (either original or quotes)
- promote other peopleBe sure to contact people personally and invite them to an event before you invite them to an event/group on Facebook.
Tips on contacting people on Facebook
- Ask a lot of questions
- Focus attention on them
- Never bring up your business unless askedTips on getting people to ask about your business
- Ask questions about their jobs/occupation
- Ask questions about the problem that your product addresses
- Post a little bit of information about your business, but not too much on your profileAdd as many people from your company and share content!
Now that you’ve gotten your name out there and you are able to have conversations, you will need to get phone numbers or you will not be able to contact them.
When someone asks you on your wall for more information DO NOT post it on your wall. This not only reduces your chances of getting a phone number from the prospect but also from all other prospects visiting your wall. Contact them in a private message and ask a question such as, “what would you like to know?”. This gives you valuable information about why they are interested and it also creates a conversation. After a few questions go back and forth, the prospect is now “invested” in the answers and they are more likely to give a phone number so that you can call them.
In summary, here are the steps:
- Create a personal profile with a lot of fun and useful information
- Inspire participation by commenting on people’s content
- Create relationships and conversations focused on them
- Ask for the best way to contact the prospect and use the system.
I hope this has been useful. Please comment, I’d love to hear your success!

An awesome MLM compensation plan
By · CommentsThe thing I love most about this video is that I’ve given trainings many times about just about every element of this compensation plan. I remember saying, “These are all the elements that would make up a perfect compensation plan, I haven’t seen a compensation plan that hit’s them all yet but I’ll let you know if I do”.
The Law of Diminishing Intent
By · CommentsWhen I heard about the “Law of Diminishing Intent“, I had an Aha moment. I can remember so many times in my life where an incredible idea came to me. I got excited, started planning and had every intention to follow through. However, I often made the decision to “sleep on it” before I took the first action.
When the morning came, I started to doubt the “genius” of my plan. I often decide to get on with my day and think about it later… By the time I get to it again, the excitement has passed and I decide that it’s not really a very good idea after all and scrap it. Sure enough, months later, someone else has implemented my idea!!!
What I experienced is the “Law of Diminishing Intent”;
We intend to take action when the idea strikes us. We intend to do something when the emotion is high. But if we don’t translate that intention into action fairly soon, the urgency starts to diminish. A month from now the passion is cold. A year from now it can’t be found. – Jim Rohn
When I learned about this concept I felt incredibly cheated. I had always thought that by thinking a decision through before taking action on it, that I was making smarter decisions. I realized that by avoiding action on a new idea, I was actually virtually eliminating my chances of success. I have let so many fantastic ideas fall by the wayside.
I started to wonder… “What if I fail because my poor idea?”
It’s not that you don’t think through the idea. In fact, that is the first step. The point is to take some action on the idea immediately. Draw up plans, get it on paper, invite some friends over to brainstorm.
When intuition strikes take action now!
The longer you wait the less likely you will be to do it at all, and you will pass up many life transforming opportunities.
News and Updates
By · CommentsI feel bad that I haven’t blogged in so long. I’ve been so incredibly busy. I started building again and I’m very psyched about it. In 45 days I hit the Regional Director title with over 20k in organizational sales volume in my group. That also qualifies me for a black BMW.
I’m very happy about my progress and I am very excited about helping others accomplish even more than I have. I don’t know how much blogging I’ll be doing this month since I’m shooting for a chance at being in Success From Home Magazine. All I have to do is help enough people hit the director level. That would mean helping them to find 3 promoters and a customer at the minimum. The cool thing is that this will also earn them over $500 in commissions.
I’m very excited about this, I’ve already been able to help others in my group do it, and I’m looking forward to stepping it up.
Facebook allows us to build MLM like we should
By · CommentsI’m extremely excited about Facebook and it’s ability to tap into our hot and warm market as well as generate leads from the cold market.
I first got involved in Network Marketing about 5 years ago. While I was able to recruit a few people, I quickly ran out of people to talk to. I turned to MySpace at the time and had some pretty impressive success, but still I was having trouble duplicating. Ultimately, I turned to Internet Marketing for just product sales only and got out of the recruiting.
Recently, I got involved again in the industry of Network Marketing. I was waiting for a system that was as easily duplicated as people claimed, and I carefully researched for almost 2 years. There are many people who claim that they have a system, but they are misleading people. What they call a system is simply a “presentation”. Furthermore, most people have no idea how to invite people to this “presentation” so they end up tricking them or using an incentive. Obviously, this is a major turn off and no one appreciates being misled.
The system is the HOW. It is how you introduce someone to the product/business. The words you use to introduce people to the tool that presents. The system does the work!
Now, in part, because of the opportunity that Facebook offers, combined with a system that does the work, I managed to close out March with over 10k in volume… Oh… and I started promoting on the 15th… The best thing is that every single distributor that made at least 5 calls has recruited at least one customer or distributor!
Facebook offers an opportunity for your prospects to identify themselves to you. Think about how much easier it would be to make your outbound calls if the prospect is expecting your call and open, or even interested, in hearing your message. When you couple that with an actual system to recruit you will be unstoppable!
Why can’t we talk about money in MLM?
By · CommentsI started a discussion recently in an MLM forum that I participate on frequently. I wondered what the MLM veterans thought about check waving and making income claims. It all stemmed from an argument between two distributors.
Here’s a link to the thread.
MLM.com – Why can’t we talk about money
The answers for the most part were quite thought provoking and informative. We got into the legal aspects, ethical aspects as well as a discussion about what most people do. It was quite interesting.
First of all, I wonder why we don’t talk about money. For some reason, I’ve always been comfortable telling people how much money I earn. I guess I’ve always thought that if I never talk to anyone about money, then how was I going to learn how to get it! If I am ever coy about the income I earn it is just because society frowns on asking people what they make.
From time to time, there will be prospects that will want to know what you are making. Although it is rare, it is normal since some people are interested in joining because of the opportunity to make money. There is a right way and a wrong way to handle this question. If you become defensive or if you ignore the question, then it will appear that you are hiding something and it will turn your prospect off. It is best to recognize that there are laws in place that prevent income claims and most Network Marketing companies also have policies and procedures that prevent you from showing checks. However, there are many companies that do have published income statements that can give average incomes for the company.
In the end, I don’t really think that it is necesary to be showing checks. I think that between friends, it is exciting to celebrate success with each other, but when it comes to recruiting, it is unethical. It gives the prospect the wrong idea about what this industry is all about. Everyone has a choice on what they want to put into their business and what they want to get out of it.
Are you REALLY helping people? Find out
By · CommentsMy best friend is personal trainer… actually, he’s one of the top rated personal trainers in the country. He’s incredible at what he does and his clients get serious results. So one day I asked him to show me a few things. Here is roughly how that conversation went;
I said: “Hey bud… I’d like to buff up a bit, why don’t you show me a thing or two?”
He said: “sure, come on in to the gym and we’ll get you set up on a program.”
I said: “No no… I mean right now… just show me a few exercises.”
He said: “didn’t you say that you want to buff up?”
I said: “yes”
He sail: “well, in order for you to reach your goal, we need to set you up on a program”
Of course at the time I was a little annoyed, but I understand now. If he were to show me a couple exercises and I did not get any results, I may be tempted to say that “It doesn’t work“. Or even worse, someone could be watching and ask me where I learned my poor technique and that would be very poor advertising for my friend.
What I mean is that when we are helping our customers use our products to achieve results or when we are helping our new distributors to build a business, it is a package deal. We are selling a solution to their problem. We need to find out what their goal is and help them reach it by following the system that works! Just as it is not enough to go to the gym once and claim that it “doesn’t work”, we do not make one phone call to promote our business and then quit when we get a no. It is not fair to anyone.
In order to succeed, you need to set expectations properly and get commitment to following a plan.
Set Goals, NOT Desired Outcomes
By · CommentsI attended an excellent seminar last evening and I had an epiphany. I have been setting goals for myself for years and I did not realize that I was doing it all wrong. I wasn’t actually setting goals. I was setting desired outcomes.
Allow me to explain.
For the last few years, most of my goals have been dependent on other people. I had goals to grow my business to a certain income, to increase my presence as an artist by landing gigs in specific bars, etc. The problem is that those goals depended on me convincing other people to do something and as we know, other people are unpredictable. So when things don’t work out as expected, what did I do? I became discouraged and set another “lesser” goal. Of course, this does not make me feel confident and productive.
A goal is an action that you take that is only dependent on you. Otherwise, it is a desired outcome.
That means that my desired outcome was to increase the profit of my business. The goals were to make 20 prospecting calls per day. If you rely on statistics, then by accomplishing your goals, you will likely hit your desired outcome. However, the important thing is that you do the best you can to hit your goal.
In sports, you rarely hear professionals talking about how they are going to win the game. Typically, you hear them say that they will “go out there and perform at their personal best”. This is a goal. That way, if they end up losing the game, there is no reason for them to feel bad about themselves as long as they performed at their personal best. The desired outcome is out of their control.
I found this new way of looking at goals to be very liberating. I can now focus only on what I can do in order to move forward and reach my potential. If I set a goal and I do my best to achieve it, then if I fail, I have only myself to blame. However, by setting goals that I can control by simply performing the actions to the best of my ability, then I will hit more of my goals and will likely also get my desired outcome.
Something to think about!
